Want to Become an Author?

Once upon a time, things were simple. Authors wrote books, publishers published them, bookshops sold them, readers bought them and governments banned them. But with the advent of digital printing and online commerce, things have become confusing. The choices before a new author today are dizzying. There are traditional publishers who help you self-publish and there are self-publishing companies who offer you traditional publishing packages. There are platforms where readers decide what will get published. You can publish only as an ebook. You can self-publish the ebook while a publisher publishes the print book. And so on.

In this workshop, we will try to untangle these tangled threads and see the wide opportunities that are available to authors today. We will touch upon the trend of unbundling of publishing and what it means for authors. You will learn how to evaluate various options available and the pitfalls to avoid when looking to self publish.

What to expect from the workshop

  • How to find a publisher and how to negotiate with them or else how to go about it all by yourself.
  • Learn the nitty gritties of forging ahead with your current work.
  • We also guide you how to edit your work which is very important for a published book and that is what distinguishes a self-published book from a regular published book.

Mridula is a self-published author of four books and three are ready to be published. The best-selling book is 'Wow No Side Effects'.
